“By the Manor” is our four-season, 80 year-old, light-filled home on the outskirts of Picton, 15 minutes from Sandbanks Provincial Park, in beautiful Prince Edward County. Ideal for family holidays, reunions, romantic getaways or getaway girls’ weekends, we’re well situated for whatever you have planned. With room for up to 8, our air-conditioned house has been lovingly updated, maintaining nearly all the original oak & pine finishing and trim whilst adding modern conveniences.

The House

 What Do We Get?

On the main level, the large country kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware, modern ceran-top stove, fridge, dishwasher, coffee makers (Nespresso, Bodum, and drip), toaster, kettle, panini press, blender and is well stocked with cooking utensils, dishes, linens and glassware. We’ve kept the County character in the curved cupboards and added some bright red countertops and chrome trim in keeping with the period. There’s a brand new 2 piece powder room off the kitchen as well. The large antique dining room table easily seats 6 as is, or many more with the extensions in place. With a TV room that seats 4, a living room that seats 5 or more, and a large enclosed porch on the first level, kids and adults can each have their own space.

County charm in the kitchen!

Where Exactly Are You Located?

Conveniently located at 13448 Loyalist Parkway on the edge of Picton, near all amenities and quick access to the main artery through the County. We are walking distance to both Black Prince Winery and The Waring House. Downtown Picton, with a host of great restaurants, live music, and services is a leisurely 30 minute walk, or a 2 minute drive. Picton also hosts 3 great grocery stores, 2 of which keep very extended hours during peak summer season. Bloomfield is a 5 minute drive west, and another 10 minutes or so will find you in Wellington. Both of these towns offer some incredible dining options and small shops worth exploring.

Sandbanks

A mere 15 minute pastoral drive takes you to Sandbanks Provincial Park (two passes are included with your rental), or a longer 40 minute drive will get you to North Beach Provincial Park. Close to several golf courses, boating, fishing, diving, bird-watching and hiking trails. Access to the Millenium trail is less than 200m away and offers 49 kms of multi-purpose trails that pass farms, wineries, and most of the main villages in the County. The old-fashioned Mustang drive-in is 5 minutes away on County Road 1.

What about Cleaning & Supplies?

All rentals include bath, bedroom and kitchen linens, and standard amenities including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.

What is There to Do in the County?

Vines at Sunset

Home to over 40 wineries, 8 craft breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, amazing shorelines, and beautiful parks and trails, Prince Edward county offers something for everyone of every age. The craft beer industry has recently exploded, with many new breweries opening the summer of 2017. Many of the wineries and breweries now offer on site food service, either through their own restaurant or local food trucks. With literally hundreds of bird species calling “The County” home, it is also a birdwatchers paradise. Explore amazing sunsets at Sandbanks or Wellington Beach. The list really is endless as this article will show you! Debbie and I are happy to share our favourite spots with you as well, and you’ll be provided with custom tour maps as part of your stay.

What Should We Bring?

Beach towels, sunscreen & insect repellent. You can chose to bring food and beverages, but with the wonderful bounty found at roadside stalls and farmers markets (plus 3 grocery stores 2 minutes away), breweries and wineries, there’s not a lot you’ll need to bring.
